Die Malediven
The Maldives make up an island state in the Indian Ocean, located southwest of India and Sri Lanka. The islands extend for over 823 kilometers and stop just south of the equator. Only 220 of the 1,196 islands are inhabited. The islands are spread over 26 atolls with coral reefs.
The Maldives consist of islands of the natives (“local islands”) and islands for tourists. The tourist islands are covered in palm trees and breadfruit trees and are surrounded by sandy beaches and clear lagoons.
